Yesterday’s post was sort of intense. I’m happy to say though that I have a plan. Last night, I spoke with Nick about some of the things that I’ve been feeling lately. It turns out that he has been feeling stagnant as well. Our usual routine at night has us stifled and both of us hate it. So we agreed to change it. We started with a bit of cleaning, made some veggies for dinner, ate outside, and played a game of Scrabble. One of the key decisions for us was to put a limit on the TV and computer use. We cut it out entirely last night and honestly, it felt great. We simply enjoyed each other’s company, which is something we had stopped focusing on. With his love and support and my plan to make a new daily routine for myself, I think that I can turn this whole thing around.
Now for some other news. I will be moving to a new home. That’s right, I am uprooting and getting a fresh start. I’m still working out the kinks at the new blog, but I promise to post the link soon. Until then, enjoy a little Ten on Tuesday!
1. What is your dream vacation?
A vacation with Nick. Since we haven’t had one in ages, that is all I really want. I want for us to go away together and just enjoy ourselves. I’d love to drop our stressful baggage at the door and go anywhere.
2. What has been your favorite trip so far in your life?
This is a tough one. I’ve shared many vacations with friends and family. I loved them all, but the one that stands out the most is Asheville. Nick and I have been there several times and I can’t help but want to go back. Actually, I’m hoping that we can plan a weekend trip up there sometime this fall. It’s a special place for us, one where we’ve shared a lot, including our anniversary.
3. If you and one of your best friends could go anywhere in the world for one week, where would it be and why?
Umm, pardon me being a nerd and all, but the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. It is sort of in the works but won’t happen for a while due to my non-existant finances. But, there are plans to go and they will be glorious.
4. Have you ever booked a trip using an online deal? How did it go?
I didn’t personally book one, but my sister did for our trip to Amelia Island. It went well. The only complaint we had was that the hotel and travel site failed to mention the beach rebuilding that would be going on right outside our hotel window. Granted they worked fast and you couldn’t hear too much of the noise, but still it killed our beach buzz a little bit. Also, it was sort of odd that they were filming a women’s reality TV show while we were there.
5. What’s your favorite thing to do while you’re on vacation?
I like to investigate. Meaning that I love to try new restaurants and check out the local shops. A lot of the places I’ve been are home to some very unique stores and they offer some of the coolest handmade goodies. Love to eat and peruse the handmade goodies! Oh yeah and I also like to relax.
6. Have you ever missed an opportunity to take a trip that you regret?
Hmm, nothing comes to mind. Give it a day and maybe something will popup. That’s usually how it goes.
7. You travel far away from home and get stranded with no way to buy anything, what’s the one thing you can’t live without?
More like someone. I apologize for being all Susie Sweet on you, but Nick. He’s the one I want to do everything with. I wouldn’t want to be far away from home without him.
8. What’s one of your favorite traveling memories?
Ok, here’s the thing. It was an awful drive and yet a great drive at the same time. I mean I was in the car with my dad and my sister for about 13 hours straight. That’s a long time to be in a confined space with anyone. With that being said, there’s nobody like either of them. I love them to bits. We had a blast on our trip up to Michigan to see family. We had some karaoke in the car, along with a little craziness. It was something I’ll always remember.
9. All included resort or backpacking? Why?
I’m not a nature girl. I do not hike. Backpacking is probably something I would not elect to do. You’d probably have to drag me up a mountain. So without a doubt, I would choose resort. I like to be pampered. I’m not athletic and I’m ok with that.
10. Are you more of a lie on the beach kind of person on vacation, or do you prefer to see the sights?
I appreciate the beach as much as the next person, but I don’t always want to go to the beach. I’m not big on laying in the sun and tanning, which is a big part of being at the beach. I prefer to be out and about seeing the sights and eating all the yummy food in sight. Yes, my eyes are bigger than my stomach.
